About the Role
The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, directs, implements, and assists in providing quality patient care for assigned patients.
Responsibilities
- Plans, assesses, directs, implements, and provides quality patient care, including modifying nursing care, medication administration, and discharge planning.
- Provides education tailored to individualized patient needs using the nursing process in coordination with policies and procedures.
- Monitors changes in patient condition, recording and reporting symptoms, assessing vital signs, and intervening when appropriate.
- Performs complete data collection from patient presenting complaints and pertinent history.
- Collaborates with patients to identify treatment plan goals and discharges patients with a written discharge plan.
- Encourages family participation as appropriate for age and situation.
- Delivers nursing care, including assessment, planning of education, treatment, pain management, and discharge utilizing the nursing process.
- Documents accurately in medical records, forms, and the computer, entering appropriate orders, patient charges, and other information while meeting standards, policies, and procedures.
- Delivers quality care using multi-disciplinary team strategies and minimizes the risk of infection, harm, or injury.
- Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records, directing care with regard to age, developmental stage, presenting complaint, and pertinent history.
- Works at maintaining a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments, staff, patients, and visitors.
- Anticipates deteriorating life sign patterns or equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate action.
- Modifies patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
- Collaborates with the patient care team on patient care plans, incorporating consistent use of hand-off communication.
- Conducts and coordinates patient care and patient transfers in accordance with EMTALA regulations, as applicable.
- Performs additional department-specific functions as outlined in department procedures.

Requirements
- Nursing Diploma from an Accredited Diploma Program or Associate or higher Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Current licensure by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas or proof of reciprocity of licensure between the State of Texas and another state within 90 days.
- Experience levels:
- RN I: 6 months – 1.99 years of relevant experience.
- RN II: 2 – 4.99 years of relevant experience.
- RN III: 5 – 9.99 years of relevant experience.
- RN IV: 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Current JPS-recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, maintained throughout employment.
- ACLS within 3 months of hire, EKG test passed within 90 days, and initial NIHSS within 90 days, maintained throughout employment.
- Completion of unit-specific competency-based orientation program within 90 days.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Certification in the area of nurse specialty.

- Full-time, night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
