About the role
The Head Nurse oversees patient care, staff management, and daily operations within a nursing unit. They utilize the nursing process to guide clinical decision-making, ensuring safe, compassionate, and quality care that respects patient rights and dignity. The role includes providing clinical leadership, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting continuous improvement in healthcare delivery.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and synthesize diagnostic data relevant to patient conditions.
- Collaborate with leadership and other departments to identify and implement improvements.
- Guide staff during critical situations and evaluate intervention outcomes.
- Innovate processes to enhance patient outcomes.
- Participate in clinical leadership activities such as coaching, mentoring, staffing, and performance evaluations.
- Support initiatives to improve healthcare delivery and promote lifelong learning.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar setting or specialty area.
- RN licensure and BLS certification within 14 days of hire; ACLS preferred.
- Computer literacy required; additional preferred skills include advanced certifications.
