About the Role

At HCA Florida West Hospital, our nurses play a vital part in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in our Free Standing Emergency Room. The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers care in accordance with departmental requirements and established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." As an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, the RN supports the organization’s vision, mission, and values to ensure an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient pain regularly and promote effective pain management, including reassessments after interventions.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, and other functions as ordered by medical providers.
• Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and proactively anticipate patient needs.
• Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and possible side effects using clear, non-medical language.
• Educate patients and families on non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as lifestyle changes, disease prevention, and healthy habits.
• Prepare patients and families for future self-management of their care.

Requirements

• Current (RN) Registered Nurse licensure.
• Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
