Registered Nurse Free Standing ER

About the Role

The Registered Nurse in the Free Standing ER coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care tailored to the department's specific requirements and aligned with state and specialty scope and standards. You will collaborate with medical providers and the care team to provide individualized, compassionate care using established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." As an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, you will model the organization’s vision, mission, and values to support an exceptional patient experience and clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient pain regularly and promote effective pain management, including reassessments after interventions.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, and other functions as ordered by medical providers.
• Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and proactively anticipate and resolve patient needs.
• Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, patient status, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow-up measures using clear, non-technical language.
• Educate patients and families on non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as lifestyle changes, disease prevention, healthy diet, and exercise.
• Prepare patients and families for future self-management.
• Serve as a voice in shaping patient care decisions through collaborative relationships and participation in hospital councils and national nursing initiatives.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) Associate Degree.
• 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• No travel required.

Qualifications

The following certifications must be obtained within specified timeframes of employment:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (within 90 days).
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (within 30 days).
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (within 1 year).
• NIH Stroke Scale (within 90 days).
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (within 90 days).
• PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (within 90 days).
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (within 1 year).
