Nurse Free Standing ED

About the Role

As our Emergency Services Nurse at our Ahwatukee Hospital Satellite Emergency Department, you will take a leadership role in assessing patient and family health problems and resources, developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive nursing care plans. This position provides professional nursing care and interventions to acutely ill adult patient populations across all ages, from young adults to geriatrics, within a fast-paced, high-stress environment.

Responsibilities

• Triage patients, assess their condition, and administer medications and treatments.
• Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, technicians, and support staff to ensure timely and critical interventions.
• Meticulously monitor patient progress and educate patients and families on health management.
• Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with hospital protocols.
• Serve as a patient advocate and quickly adapt to changes in patient conditions (e.g., lab results, vitals).
• Utilize the SBAR format for physician notification and perform nurse-to-nurse reports.
• Use emergency triage protocol to intake, discharge, or admit patients.
• Deliver stabilizing care to emergency patients of all ages as part of the larger ER team, adapting care to changes in patient’s condition as needed.
• Apply knowledge of cultural differences to provide patient care that is sensitive to and consistent with cultural values, beliefs, and customs.
• Recognize and adapt to changes in patients' conditions (i.e., lab results, vitals, signs, and test values) in a timely and clinically appropriate manner.
• Delegate tasks based on patient needs, potential for harm, patient stability, task complexity, and outcome predictability within the scope of skill set and practice.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Registered Nurse license in Arizona.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• American Heart Association ACLS certification.
• American Heart Association PALS certification.
• Strong critical thinking skills and excellent communication abilities.
• Capacity to remain calm under pressure while delivering high-quality care.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to recognize your scope of practice, seek multidisciplinary collaboration, and assume accountability for decisions.
• Capability to handle heavy physical demands.

Qualifications

• Preferred BSN degree.
• Two (2) years of Emergency Services experience.

$35.00 - $58.63 per hour.
