Scope of Work
The clinical nurse, under the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles. The Clinical Nurse provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to policies and procedures.
- Works 3 12-hour shifts in a 4-week schedule, including 1 weekend shift.
- Works 1 holiday and 1 hard-to-fill shift per calendar year.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Associate's Degree or equivalent from an accredited school of nursing.
- B.S.N., M.S.N., or DNP/PhD. If not BSN prepared, new graduates/nurses with less than one (1) year of experience must enroll in an accredited BSN program within one (1) year of licensure date and complete within five (5) years. Effective April 18, 2023.
- Experience:
- 2 years of related acute care nursing experience.
- Internal candidates with less than 2 years of clinical experience must be approved by their current nurse leader and the site Chief Nursing Officer. These candidates remain unit-based PRN (casual) employees until they reach 2 years of nursing experience.
- Licensure/Certification:
- LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - State of Michigan, required upon hire.
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA, ARC, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, required upon hire.
- CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA, required upon hire for Endoscopy (exceptions for Dearborn, Farmington Hills, Taylor), Radiology, Pre-Op, PACU, Emergency Care, Critical Care.
- CRT-Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) - ENA, required within 1 year for Emergency Care.
- CRT-Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) - ENA, required within 1 year for Emergency Care.
