RN Float - Maternal/Child

Role Overview

A skilled Nurse specializing in perinatal and pediatric care, providing both routine and complex patient care in units such as Nursery, Mother Baby, Postpartum, NICU, and PICU. Demonstrates independence, clinical awareness, and the ability to manage contingencies while delegating appropriately.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation—to deliver evidence-based care.
• Address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administer medications and treatments following protocols, monitor effects, and document care accurately.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on health needs and resources.
• Coordinate patient throughput, admissions, discharges, and transfers to optimize flow.
• Oversee unit operations, ensuring safety, proper equipment use, and staffing.
• Adhere to safety standards, quality practices, and healthcare regulations.
• Maintain accurate health information documentation and ensure compliance with policies.
• Operate medical equipment, process orders, and interpret patient charts to support care delivery.
• Promote patient safety by recognizing issues, responding to concerns, and documenting incidents.

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum 2 years of pediatric or perinatal experience.
• Current RN license, BLS, and NRP certifications; PALS preferred for pediatric units.
• STABLE certification and other relevant credentials.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to adapt to various units and shifts, demonstrating flexibility and proactive availability.
