About the role

The Registered Nurse III (RN III) in the Fetal Care Program provides specialized inpatient nursing care to mothers whose unborn babies have complex or high-risk medical conditions and fetal conditions. This role is integral to a highly coordinated, multidisciplinary team focused on optimizing maternal and fetal outcomes through advanced monitoring, education, and compassionate support.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to high-risk antepartum and peripartum patients
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with hospital standards
  • Collaborate closely with maternal-fetal medicine specialists, neonatology, anesthesia, and surgical teams
  • Coordinate care across disciplines to ensure seamless transitions throughout the inpatient stay
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice implementation
  • Provides education and emotional support to patients and families navigating complex diagnoses and care plans
  • Uses systems thinking to intervene and lead others to change systems and processes as appropriate to support optimal patient outcomes
  • Works on behalf of patient, family, and community; advocates from patient/family perspective, whether similar to or different from personal values

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from ACEN, CCNE, or NLN accredited institution or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required
  • 5+ years related experience
  • Active Ohio RN License
  • Active Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) Certification required

  • Expertly integrates age specific concepts into patient care, considering both the patient's chronological age and developmental level
  • Uses self-management strategies, develops care goals and actions in partnerships with patients and families
  • Integrates patient/family education throughout delivery of care; evaluates effectiveness using teach back methods and by observing behavioral changes related to learning
  • Integrates strategies in the plan of care that support the patient's and family's transition to home
  • Uses systems thinking to know when and how to negotiate and navigate through the system on behalf of patients and families
  • Sustains an extensive understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards
  • Works with managers to lead efforts to meet and sustain the regulatory compliance efforts of the department and hospital
  • Maintains an extensive understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards
  • Supports leadership in Compliance efforts to meet and sustain the regulatory compliance efforts of the department and hospital
  • Monitors and assists others to comply with safety and departmental policies and procedures
  • Ensures individual certifications and Safety College requirements are fulfilled in a timely basis
  • Works with department managers, nurse council and magnet representatives to identify and share safety best practices
  • Be mindful of CCHMCs processes and compliance with CMS standards and freely communicate safety and compliance concerns to leadership team members

Benefits

Annual pay may vary based on FTE status. Additional pay (e.g., shift, on-call, or weekend differentials) and benefits may apply.

Pay

Starting pay is based on experience, skills, and equity; exceptions may apply for highly qualified candidates. Annual pay may vary based on FTE status.

Schedule

Full time, 36 FTE (0.9 Employee Status)
