About the role

The Extended Orientation Opportunity is designed for registered nurses looking to transition their previous hospital experience into a new specialty. It requires mixed shifts during the orientation period and provides strong staffing support, robust supply chains, and ongoing clinical education.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve effective pain management by regularly assessing patient pain.
  • Perform procedures, monitor patients, and administer treatments as directed by medical providers.
  • Thoroughly document all aspects of patient care in the medical record.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers, translating complex medical information into understandable terms.
  • Teach patients and families about their medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up measures.
  • Prepare patients and families for self-management of their health.

Qualifications

  • NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support, or Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course, or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course, or TPATC Transport Professional Advanced Trauma Course must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
  • One or more years of RN step-down ICU or ICU experience required for this transitional program.
