Job Summary
A registered nurse in the endoscopy setting provides continuous care, safety, and education for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures. Responsibilities include overseeing patient care, analyzing assessment data, ensuring compliance with regulations, documenting accurately, collaborating with healthcare teams, responding to emergencies, and cross-training.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee accurate and ongoing physical, psychological, social, safety, educational, and discharge needs of each patient.
- Analyze assessment data and identify specific patient needs/problems for inclusion in the plan of care.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory agency mandates and document timely and accurate patient information.
- Provide direct patient care, respond to patient needs, and collaborate with other healthcare disciplines.
- Assure continuity of care during the pre-procedural, intra-procedural, and post-procedural periods.
- Cross-train to peri-anesthesia and assist with financial management by monitoring supply usage and waste.
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations and disasters.
- Follow the Nurse Practice Act and demonstrate adherence to Standards of Care, Standards of Practice, Standards of Competency, and Nursing Policy and Procedures.
- Function as testing personnel under CLIA 1988 regulations as required.
- Assist with the financial management of the designated area(s).
Education Requirements
- Minimum: Med Surg, Critical Care Experience
- Preferred: Endoscopy Experience, Moderate Sedation Administration Experience
- Experience Requirements: Minimum: Associate Degree as a Registered Nurse from an accredited school of nursing
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree as a Registered Nurse from an accredited school of nursing
- Licenses & Certifications Required: Registered Nurse license in the State of Indiana by date of hire or transfer to the position
- Basic Life Safety (American Heart Association)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Association)
License/Certification Requirements
- Registered Nurse license in the State of Indiana
- American Heart Association ACLS
- American Heart Association BLS- Basic Life Support
