About the Role

This position is considered a leader in the provision of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The role involves effectively delegating, directing, and assisting licensed and ancillary team members while assuming accountability for quality patient outcomes. The incumbent exhibits sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity and maintains involvement in activities aimed at achieving unit and departmental strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.
  • Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for diverse patient, family, and group needs.
  • Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly and serves as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team.
  • Utilizes data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change for optimal outcomes.
  • Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction, employee morale, and improvement in the nursing profession.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, or regulatory agency requirements and ensures compliance.

Requirements

  • Current registered nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Certification.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

  • Education: Registered nurse diploma (required). Associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing (preferred).
  • Work Experience: None required.
  • Certifications: Certification in a clinical specialty area (preferred).

Skills

  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to be self-directed.
  • Good judgment and interpersonal skills.

Physical and Environmental Demands

  • Physical Work: Heavy Work – Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds frequently, and 10 to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
  • Exposure: Routine exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue. Occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste.
