About the role

The Emergency Department at Cox Health in Springfield, Missouri, serves as a hub for the southwest Missouri region, providing comprehensive care including trauma, stroke, and STEMI services. It also collaborates with the BHAT Behavioral Health Assessment Team for psychiatric consultations.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate sexual assault forensic exams via telehealth for patients at Freeman Joplin and Neosho Emergency Departments who were sexually assaulted within the past 5 days.
• Conduct forensic examinations and evidence collection under the guidance of a SANE or other trained medical provider when an on-site SANE is unavailable.
• Store examination evidence securely until it can be collected by law enforcement or placed in long-term storage according to the patient's preferences.
• Participate in ongoing education and training provided by the State of Missouri to maintain proficiency in SAFE-T procedures, evidence handling, trauma-informed care, and legal testimony.

Requirements

• Current AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or completion within 30 days.
• Missouri Registered Nurse license or compact state license in the nurse’s state of residence.
• Successful completion of educational training for SAFE-T provided by the State of Missouri.

Preferred Requirements

• AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers within 30 days.
