About the role

The Hospital of Central Connecticut is an acute-care community teaching hospital providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in general medicine, surgery, and a wide variety of specialties. We are a 47-bed community-based Emergency Room servicing approximately 80,000 to 85,000 patients per year with diverse complaints and illnesses. Our Emergency Department is known for efficient, collaborative, patient-centric care, with a strong focus on patient and staff satisfaction.

Under the direction and general supervision of the Nurse Manager, the registered nurse utilizes evidence-based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, hospital policies, and medical staff directives. The registered nurse uses the nursing process to develop a plan of care that meets the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of the patient and family.

Schedule

Evening shift: 3:00 PM – 3:30 AM, three days per week, every other weekend/holiday (EOW/EOH).

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement patient care plans using the nursing process.
• Provide care in a collaborative environment with strong interdisciplinary teams, focusing on a patient-centered care model.
• Manage multiple clinical priorities and delegate tasks to achieve patient outcomes.
• Demonstrate excellence in customer service and maintain highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Work self-directedly in clinical responsibilities while remaining calm under pressure.

Requirements

• RN with current Connecticut license required.
• BSN preferred.
• Experience in Emergency Medicine preferred.
• New graduates may work under supervision per State guidelines.
