About the Unit

Big Rapids Emergency Department is a community-based hospital that is part of the Corewell Healthcare System. The Big Rapids ED is a certified Primary Stroke Center and Level IV Trauma Center with 20 treatment spaces for patients with minor to major medical and traumatic emergencies. The interdisciplinary team collaborates closely to provide relationship-based care for patients and their loved ones. The department sees over 27,000 visits per year and ranks highly in patient experience and throughput measures. Teamwork, culture, and process improvement are valued from each team member.

Responsibilities

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA, including:

Requirements

• Associate’s in Nursing (Required)
• Bachelor’s in Nursing (Required within 5 years)
• Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license (Required)
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required within 90 days)
• Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – AHA (Required within 6 months)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – AHA (Required within 6 months)
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) – ENA (Required within 1 year)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) – ENA (Required within 1 year)
