RN Emergency Department

Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital is a Level I trauma center. While we treat minor illnesses and injuries, we are also prepared with a pediatric trauma care team that provides care for severe injuries. We’re proud to have the only pediatric emergency department in West Michigan, designed specifically for children and staffed by experts in pediatric emergency medicine. Recognized as experts in pediatric trauma and burn care with specially trained physicians and nurses available 24 hours a day to care for unexpected or severe injuries.

Scope of Work

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• Associate’s in Nursing (Required)
• Bachelor’s in Nursing (Required within 5 years)
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) (Required)
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required within 90 days)
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (Required within 6 months)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) – ENA Emergency Nurses Association (1 Year)
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) – ENA Emergency Nurses Association (1 Year)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – AHA American Heart Association (180 Days)
