Join our critical access team that takes pride in the care and compassion we give to our community in picturesque Page, Arizona. In this role, you will care for a variety of patients in our Emergency Department. The high level of coordination between doctors, nurses, patient care assistants, and other departments fosters a strong collaborative environment where patients receive compassionate, highly personalized care.
This is a full-time, 36-hour per week Day Shift position at Page Hospital, a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital offering a wide range of medical services, including a Level IV Trauma Emergency Department, surgery, medical imaging, obstetrics, cardiopulmonary, acute care, and rehabilitation. Since 1958, Page Hospital has provided exceptional patient care to the people of Page and nearby northern Arizona communities.
About the Role
This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing practice standards. You will be accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by yourself or others under your direction, utilizing specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to assess data and plan, provide, and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
- Review patient history and physical with patient/family, ensuring completion within the appropriate timeframe.
- Review available information from other health care team members, diagnostics, and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physicians and caregivers.
- Complete assessments and reassessments according to patient needs and policy.
- Formulate a plan of care, including discharge planning, using assessment data and input from the patient, family, and health team.
- Initiate a realistic, measurable plan of care based on patient-specific needs, assessment data, and the medical plan.
- Consider physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age-specific, and educational needs in the plan of care.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to plan and review/revise the plan of care based on changing patient needs.
- Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of health care team activities.
- Provide care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, complying with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory requirements.
- Delegate appropriately and supervise the provision of care by other licensed nurses and personnel.
- Promote continuity of care by accurately communicating patient status to other caregivers.
- Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise the plan of care as needed.
- Evaluate patient progress toward goals and outcomes in collaboration with the health care team.
- Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record legibly, timely, and in accordance with policy.
- Provide care based on the best evidence available and participate in research activities within clinical practice.
- Participate in unit or facility shared leadership, education, role development, and orientation of personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors.
- Promote and support the growth of others through precepting and mentoring.
- Contribute to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care.
- Actively participate in improving national nursing quality indicators and outcomes, such as through professional organizations.
- Interact with staff at all levels, physicians, patients, families, external contacts, and other health care providers to report or clarify information.
- Synthesize and prioritize data from multiple sources to support the human response of the patient and family to changes in health status.
Requirements
- Current, valid RN license in the state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure for the current state of practice.
- BLS certification is required.
- Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on the area of practice.
- Experience in the clinical area for which you are applying is desired.
- Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area of work, demonstrated through annual validations.
- Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require a minimum of one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting within the past 12 months in the specialty area.
- Banner Registry and Travel physician practice positions require a minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a physician practice or acute care setting.
- For Home Health settings, must be able to operate a personal vehicle with a valid driver’s license and active auto insurance.
- For Behavioral Health clinical settings serving children in Arizona, must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at hire and maintain it for the duration of employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
- For BUMCS Behavioral Health clinical settings, must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at hire and maintain it for the duration of employment.
- For Banner Home Care AZ, must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at hire and maintain it for the duration of employment.
- For Banner Staffing (BSS) Behavioral Health roles in Arizona, must possess a State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at hire and maintain it for the duration of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Professional certification preferred.
