Responsibilities

• Adhere to departmental and hospital policies and procedures, including safety, risk management, and regulatory standards.
• Stay abreast of trends, developments, and regulatory requirements impacting your scope of responsibility.
• Administer, oversee, and document medication administration (e.g., topically, orally, intramuscularly, subcutaneously, and intravenously) as ordered by healthcare practitioners and in accordance with hospital policy.
• Assess patients to identify physical, psychosocial, cultural, behavioral/emotional, developmental, and spiritual needs.
• Gather relevant data for patient care, implement appropriate interventions, and evaluate outcomes.
• Plan care based on initial and ongoing assessments, providing holistic, comprehensive, and professional nursing care within your scope of practice.
• Prepare patients for discharge and coordinate post-discharge needs.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and competence, using effective communication tools to address diverse patient populations.
• Apply knowledge and skills specific to the patient populations served by the department.
• Engage in professional growth opportunities and demonstrate accountability for meeting deadlines on mandatory requirements.
• Document care delivered and patient status using the nursing process in accordance with standards of care, including changes in condition, responses to interventions, and reassessments.
• Receive, verify, and ensure the appropriateness, accuracy, timeliness, and execution of physician orders.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing (required).
• New graduates or RNs without Emergency Department (E.D.) or Critical Care experience must complete the E.D. residency program.
• Active Washington State Registered Nurse license (required).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - CPR certification (required upon hire).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (required within 60 days).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification (required within 12 months).
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certification (required within 12 months).

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred).
• One year of related work experience in an acute care setting (preferred).
• Previous E.D. experience within the last 2 years (preferred).
• Critical care experience within the last 2 years (preferred).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (preferred).
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certification (preferred).
