  • 3/12-hour shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Responsibilities

  • Oversee patient care using a professional practice model, including assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and evaluating patient responses.
  • Secure patient travel and address patient needs in healthcare.
  • Help patients and prevent issues while adhering to the Texas Nursing Practice Act.
  • Delegate tasks based on patient condition and team competencies.
  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs.
  • Create, implement, and evaluate care plans, adjusting as needed to reach desired outcomes.
  • Build therapeutic relationships with patients and families, managing discomfort and maintaining professionalism.
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members to empower informed healthcare choices.
  • Assess and document learning needs regularly.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and the community to create care plans.
  • Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
  • Use problem-solving strategies with patients, families, and staff.
  • Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care.
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, and commit to growth.
  • Contribute to peers' development and show commitment to community service.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • RN license
  • BLS certification (must obtain within 30 days of hire if not already certified)
  • Minimum of 2 years high-acuity hospital ED/ER RN experience

Skills

  • Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, procedures, and regulations
  • Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area
  • Understanding of hospital procedures and rules
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and their side effects
  • Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with diverse parties
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking capabilities
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email
