Responsibilities

• Provide diabetes education in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Deliver diabetes education through community and professional education services.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited program for Registered Nurse.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum of three years clinical experience.
• Diabetes education experience highly preferred (inpatient and/or outpatient setting).
• Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) strongly preferred.
• Applicants are encouraged to complete the CDCES certification examination within 6 months of obtaining the required experience hours and not to exceed 2 years from date of hire.
• Current BLS certification through any ILCOR‑provided course (e.g., Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, American Red Cross) that includes a manikin check‑off.
• Physical demands: good physical health; ability to stand, sit, or walk for long periods; lift at least 20 pounds; work with moderate noise.
• Physical effort: constant talking, hearing, seeing (67%-100%); frequently reaching (34%-66%); occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching, handling/feeling (1%-33%).
