About the role

Mercy Hospital’s Coronary Care Unit (CCU) cares for patients admitted from the Emergency Department, doctor’s office, or as overflow from the Cardiovascular Surgery Unit (CVU). These patients typically have had a heart attack or are experiencing chest pain. Procedures on this unit include stents, cath lab procedures, balloon pumps, ECMO, and pacers. The CCU is a loyal, fast-paced unit that prioritizes safety and quality, empowering caregivers to speak up. Known for high patient satisfaction ratings, low turnover, and longevity, this unit thrives on the adrenaline of critical care.

As an RN in the CCU, you will deliver exceptional care throughout the patient journey, interact directly with patients and their families, and provide healthcare education as needed. Opportunities include hands-on training, leadership check-ins, mentoring, and community activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, document, and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Educate patients and their families.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN program).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
• One year of current acute care RN experience or licensed military RN experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements

• Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Pay

Pay range for new hires: $35.50 – $55.60 per hour. This position is eligible for a $5/hour shift differential. Actual compensation will be determined based on work history, experience, skill set, and education. The pay range does not include applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime) or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental, vision, retirement savings contributions).

Schedule

Rotating days/nights: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, with weekend and holiday requirements.
