Responsibilities

  • Carefully coordinates and develops patient care utilizing the Nursing Process.
  • Fulfills the role of supervisor and mentor to non-RN team members.
  • Serves as a resource for both staff and management in identifying and resolving issues.
  • Reviews schedules and organizes patient flow; greets patients, documents concerns, and prepares patients for exams/procedures.
  • Conducts initial patient interviews, reviews medical profiles, H&P, and documents in EMR/manual charts.
  • Accurately documents vital signs, weight, and reports any abnormalities to the physician.
  • Assists with specimen collection and testing as needed.
  • Supports patients with tasks such as walking, transferring, and dressing.
  • Administers minor treatments and assists with minor procedures as directed by the physician.
  • Provides education to patients and families based on their learning needs.
  • Schedules patient testing and pre-certifies tests if insurance requires.
  • Answers telephone messages from patients, physician offices, and others.
  • End-of-month checks for expired supplies and medications; stocks rooms and maintains inventory.
  • Cleans exam/procedure rooms and equipment after each patient; prepares rooms for the next patient and physician needs.
  • Notifies patients of test results and follows up as instructed by the physician.
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings, in-service education opportunities, and participates in continuing education programs.
  • Formulates and maintains effective working relationships with employees and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Respects and protects patient confidentiality and privacy, disclosing information only for professional reasons in the patient's best interest.
  • Displays a positive attitude when interacting with physician's office staff, physicians, and fellow employees.
  • Participates in and supports performance improvement and risk management activities.
  • Completes required continuous training and education, including practice-specific requirements.
  • Demonstrates professional work behavior by following Service Standards.
  • Complies with departmental organizational policies and procedures and adheres to external agency requirements.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Valid license as Registered Nurse in CT.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar position.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.
