Responsibilities

  • Coincides and develops patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and adheres to established standards of practice.
  • Supervises and mentors non-RN personnel.
  • Serves as a resource for both staff and management in problem identification and resolution.
  • Reviews schedules and organizes patient flow; greets patients, documents concerns, questions, etc.
  • Accompanies patients to exam/procedure rooms and prepares them for physical exams.
  • Conducts initial patient interviews, reviews medical profiles, H&P, and documents in EMR/manual charts as required.
  • Accurately documents patient vital signs, weight, and reports any abnormalities to the physician.
  • Assists with specimen collection and testing as necessary.
  • Documents pertinent information in EMR.
  • Assists patients with tasks such as walking, transferring, and dressing.
  • Provides minor treatments and assists physicians with minor procedures.
  • Offers education to patients and families based on their learning needs.
  • Arranges and pre-certifies patient tests as required by insurance.
  • Answers telephone messages from patients and physician offices.
  • End-of-month checks for expired supplies and medications; restocks rooms and maintains inventory.
  • Cleans exam/procedure rooms and equipment after each patient.
  • Prepares exam/procedure rooms for the next patient and physician's needs.
  • Notifies patients of test results (as per physician instructions) and arranges follow-up appointments.
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings, in-service education opportunities, and participates in continuing education programs.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with employees and other healthcare team members.
  • Supports performance improvement and risk management activities.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Valid license as Registered Nurse in CT.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar position.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
