RN Clinical Coordinator Preop PACU

About the Role

As our RN Clinical Coordinator, you will actively support the department director/manager by coordinating clinical and department activities for the unit, serving as a vital clinical resource and professional role model. You will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, ensure high-quality care delivery, act as a crucial link between physicians and the patient care team, authorize work procedures, assign duties, manage as shift charge, and actively take patient assignments based on unit needs and acuity. This role promotes patient well-being and adheres to professional standards while fostering a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records, and clinical data.
• Evaluate patient’s response and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Develop and implement patient plans of care and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide leadership, support, and coordination of the unit’s daily operations during designated shifts.
• Direct, organize, and prioritize all shift activities to ensure patient care and staff needs are met.
• Ensure appropriateness of admissions/cases to the unit/department and verify appropriate staff skill mix for safe patient care.
• Serve as a liaison to the multidisciplinary patient care team.
• Oversee and assist with flow from preop, PACU, OR, and Endoscopy to ensure needs are met.
• Assign staff to meet daily needs and schedule the next day’s assignments.
• Communicate case changes to staff, support, and coach staff to build confidence and growth.
• Hold staff accountable to policy and high standards of practice.
• Collaborate with the lead Anesthesiologist on daily case flow and efficiency.
• Assist in the development and implementation of educational programs and practices for department associates.
• Act as leadership within the department to support staff, Manager, and Director.
• Assist with room turnovers in OR suites (17 PACU bays, 12 bays, 36 Prep Op beds; Phase I & II recovered in the same areas).
• Occasionally assist in the rest of the perioperative department.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing or by endorsement.
• One (1) year of clinical RN experience.
• RN license to practice in the state of employment.
• One (1) year of Pre Op/PACU experience required.
• Previous leadership/management experience preferred.

Pay

$37.31 - $66.91 per hour.

Schedule

40 hours per week, day shifts with variable days of the week based on unit volume and need. Schedule to be determined with the unit manager during interviews. No call required, but may need to cover for staff on occasion if needed. A 30-minute callback radius is required if taking call.
