RN Clinical (Cardiac) - Surgery - Full Time 10 Hour Rotating Shifts

About the role

The Registered Nurse works as an integral part of the interdisciplinary team, utilizing the nursing process to provide therapeutic care to patients. Essential duties include administering medication and IV therapy, managing patient care plans, educating patients and families, and communicating effectively with all members of the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills policies and procedures; demonstrates ability to access online manuals.
• Completes Nursing Assessment upon patient admission, at each shift, and with changes in condition.
• Interprets assessment information and formulates Nursing Diagnoses.
• Develops Plans of Care with individualized interventions, documenting expected outcomes.
• Administers medication and IV therapy correctly, completes patient care procedures, delegates tasks, acts as patient advocate, manages restraint use, and ensures MD orders are completed.
• Provides patient/family education, completes educational flow sheets, and ensures belongings are sent with the patient upon discharge.
• Utilizes patient care equipment appropriately and safely.
• Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team, including patient and family.
• Manages time effectively, prioritizes responsibilities, takes meal breaks without incurring overtime, and completes shifts on time.
• Maintains regulatory agency requirements, including following protocols for hand-offs, medication reconciliation, and critical values.
• Manages the care of medical surgical patients, intensive care unit/s patients, stepdown/telemetry units patients, and patients undergoing dialysis treatment.
• Engages psychiatric patients in therapeutic interactions, maintains a therapeutic milieu, and monitors for patient safety.
• Demonstrates de-escalation techniques and applies behavioral restraint/seclusion when necessary, ensuring physician assessments and notifying managers.
• Participates in professional development activities and holds relevant certifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• One year acute inpatient hospital experience as RN.
• Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English.
• Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions, able to understand, follow, and perform duties as outlined in policies, regulations, and procedures.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
• Registered Nurse - RN (CA Board of Registered Nursing).
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City).

Benefits

• Hourly rate range: $47.31 - $100.00.
• $7/hour cardiac differential.
