We are seeking a Registered Nurse who will deliver nursing care using the nursing process, applying clinical knowledge and independent judgment to achieve quality patient care outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care within the ambulatory setting based on the nursing process and within role/scope of practice.
  • Perform preliminary patient assessments through observation and chart review to facilitate appropriate follow-up with the healthcare team.
  • Evaluate unstable or complex patient care situations and facilitate appropriate intervention.
  • Implement clinical decisions and demonstrate appropriate use of expert peers and/or management.
  • Accept accountability for care provided by self and delegated healthcare providers.
  • Use standards of care and practice to guide care delivery, evaluating patient response.
  • Base decisions on relevant scientific principles, established standards, or research findings.
  • Determine and revise priorities for patient care activities based on acuity and available resources.
  • Use established patient care support systems, including documentation, communication, and information.
  • Provide educational instruction to patients and families regarding healthcare needs.
  • Identify teaching/learning needs, evaluate effectiveness, and document patient and family education.
  • Assist in orienting new employees according to unit orientation plans.
  • Apply knowledge from educational experiences to patient care and instruction.
  • Engage in mentoring and networking to promote professional development.
  • Foster integration of staff and students into the healthcare team.
  • Promote trusting relationships and open communication at the unit level.
  • Interact with healthcare team members to meet patient care needs.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement activities as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state where services will be provided or current multi-state RN license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • Temporary RN permits as required by state board (varies by state; see details below).
  • Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.

State-Specific Temporary Permit Requirements:

  • Maryland: No temporary permit issued. Must document recent graduation from a nursing school and obtain permanent RN license within 90 days of graduation.
  • Ohio: No temporary permit issued. Ohio nurses must be currently licensed.
  • Pennsylvania: Current PA Registered Nurse Temporary Permit. Must obtain permanent licensure within one year of graduation.
  • West Virginia: Current WV Registered Nurse Grad Permit. Must obtain permanent licensure within 180 days of graduation.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Current RN licensure or temporary permit as outlined above.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Associate of Science in Nursing/Diploma with current enrollment in a BSN program and completion within 5 years of hire.

Skills

  • Competent clinical knowledge and independent nursing judgment.
  • Ability to assess and interpret patient data relative to age-specific needs.
  • Knowledge and application of principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Effective communication and conflict management skills.
  • Proficiency in patient education and mentoring.

Physical Requirements

  • Heavy/hard work requiring strength and stamina, including lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying materials/equipment weighing 40+ lbs.
  • Adherence to safe patient handling guidelines: limit manual lifting to 35 pounds; use lift equipment and patient handling aids as indicated.

Working Environment

  • Close collaboration with healthcare team members.
  • Protracted or irregular hours.
  • Exposure to biohazards and infectious diseases.
  • Frequent handwashing and use of water.
  • Electrical hazards associated with patient care equipment.
  • Potential travel between multiple clinic locations.

Schedule

  • Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
  • Shift: Day.
