What You Will Do

• Aid the physician in managing diagnostic and interventional procedures and providing continuity of care.
• Observe and document physiologic monitoring data and initiate appropriate action.
• Address the psychosocial needs of the patient and family.
• Accurately and efficiently document patient data and charges on the patient record.
• Safely and appropriately administer medication and IV solutions while demonstrating accountability for tracking narcotics.
• Check patient chart for pertinent data and perform patient assessment.
• Adhere to protocol designed to reduce radiation exposure.
• Maintain the availability of inventory and medications based on anticipated needs; check expiration dates and package integrity.
• Identify and utilize the opportunity for professional growth and employee development.
• Assure and assist with safe patient transport to other departments as needed.
• Assist in the assessment of the department's efficiency by participating in quality improvement process.
• Additional Duties as assigned:
• Review chart for accurate charges and procedures.
• Perform data entry for statistical analysis and file in the appropriate binder.
• Perform patient implant device data entry.
• Perform weekly narcotic audit per protocol.
• On-call duties as follows:
• Notify on-call staff.
• Adhere to protocol for appropriate response time, patient transport, and procedure setup in a timely manner.
• Notify physician.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current licensure as a nurse in the state of Texas.
• BLS and ACLS required.
• Minimum of 1 year OR experience.

About the Hospital

Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital specializes in the care of cardiac, orthopedic, nephrology, urology, and general medical patients. We are also a highly active inpatient center mainly centered on surgical procedures that include cardiothoracic, orthopedic, urology, and general surgery. We have a 24-hour Emergency Department with 5 fully equipped ED rooms, 4 fully operating OR rooms, 4 cardiac catherization labs with 1 electrophysiology room, 11-day surgery rooms, 58 acute care beds spread over three units, and 16 cardiac critical care rooms. We pride ourselves on giving the best overall care possible to our patients and on our family style atmosphere that includes everyone: patients and their families, physicians, and our employees.
