RN Cath Lab, PRN- Network Float Pool

Various locations – Phoenix, AZ. Network Float Pool – floats to 3+ campuses. Flexible/open scheduling. Minimum 2 years' experience in Cath Lab required.

Responsibilities

• Practice guided by the ANA Standard for Professional Nurse and Code of Ethics.
• Apply professional nursing principles, practices, concepts, and procedures to care for the patient population served.
• Record patients' medical history and symptoms, perform diagnostic tests, analyze results, operate medical equipment, administer treatment and medications, and assist with patient follow-up and rehabilitation.
• Establish or contribute to care plans, including administering medication, managing IV lines, providing therapies, observing patients, and consulting with physicians.
• Teach patients and families about managing illnesses or injuries, post-treatment care, home care needs, diet, nutrition, exercise, and self-administration of medication.
• Provide direction to licensed practical nurses and nursing aides, delegating tasks as appropriate.
• Support efforts to advance clinical knowledge and skills, precept new hires and students, and assist in completing competency tasks.
• Enhance knowledge in nursing management and patient care, improve patient experience, clinical outcomes, and promote a healthy work environment.
• For RNs with direct responsibility for stroke patients:
  • Knowledge of stroke symptoms, warning signs, protocols, pathways, NIHSS Stroke Alert activation, and stroke quality indicators.
  • Familiarity with stroke patient education materials and community resources.
• Collect and prioritize health data systematically, analyze assessment data, and develop individualized, evidence-based care plans.
• Implement and evaluate interventions, treatments, and patient progress toward outcomes.
• Document observations, interventions, and monitoring data in a retrievable form.
• Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of care plans to ensure cost-effective, high-quality healthcare.
• Assess one’s own nursing practice against professional standards and maintain current knowledge.
• Integrate ethical principles and cultural/diversity needs into practice.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, peers, and healthcare providers to enhance professional development and patient care.
• Develop and evaluate evidence-based standards of care, participate in research, and apply findings to improve nursing practice and patient outcomes.
• Plan and deliver patient care considering safety, effectiveness, and cost, utilizing resources efficiently.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) – Preferred. All Diploma and ADN hires must complete a BSN within 60 months of hire OR have 5+ years of Registered Nurse experience (including direct or indirect RN roles) at the time of hire.
• Associate's degree or Diploma in Nursing – Required.
• For staff with direct responsibility for stroke patients: stroke-specific education requirements must be completed prior to start.
• >10 months of med-surg or acute specialty setting experience – Required.
• 1 year of RN experience for all Float Positions – Required.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – Required.
• Registered Nurse (RN) State and/or Compact State Licensure as a registered nurse in Arizona – Required upon hire.
• Unit-specific certification as required by specialty area – Required.
• National certification for unit-specific patient population – Preferred.
