RN Care Coordinator (PRN)

About the Role

The Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) Coordinator is a hybrid role with an advanced clinical concentration and administrative responsibilities for the MCS Department. This position coordinates comprehensive, specialized care for advanced heart failure patients who are candidates for MCS therapy, manages postoperative care for those implanted with MCS, and provides ongoing outpatient management for patients with MCS in place. The MCS Coordinator reports to the MCS Program Manager and assists in coordinating care for mechanical circulatory support patients.

The role ensures optimal evidence-based patient care and departmental goals through efficient daily operations and compliance with established rules, regulations, and guidelines. The MCS Coordinator promotes interdisciplinary collaboration across the organization and provides leadership presence and patient/staff support with 24/7, 365-day coverage. The clinician uses current protocols to assist in medical care and supports the research process by maintaining accurate data.

Responsibilities

• Promote interdisciplinary collaboration across the organization.
• Provide leadership presence and support for patients and staff with 24/7, 365-day coverage.
• Use current protocols to assist in the medical care of patients.
• Maintain accurate data to support the research process.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
• Minimum of three years related clinical nursing work experience.
• Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
• Certification as a generalist in a related specialty area by the American Nurses Association (ANA) preferred.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.

  • Transferring a 100 lb. patient that cannot assist requires 50 lbs. of force. For every additional 100 pounds, assistance will be required.
  • 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet.
  • 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand.
• Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes (Continuous).
• Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance (Continuous).

Hourly pay grade: Health-29.
