Overview
Provides professional nursing care to patients within the medical practice in support of, and as directed by, the physicians. Assists the physician in the treatment of patients and completes related clinical paperwork.
Responsibilities
- Cares for and assists patients within the medical practice under the supervision of physicians.
- Completes related clinical paperwork as directed.
- Supports the Mercy Philosophy of caring for the sick and suffering, respecting human life, and upholding Christian values.
- Communicates with patients, families, visitors, and employees in a caring, friendly, personal, and professional manner.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current valid state license.
- CPR certification or obtain within 90 days of employment.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Knowledge of nursing principles and skills, care, examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures.
- Knowledge of medications and their effects, patient education, principles to develop a self-care program, instruments, and common safety practices.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Assists and performs a variety of medical treatments and procedures.
- Reacts calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Able to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and policies.
- Able to communicate clearly and establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff, and the public.
- Basic computer terminal and keyboard skills, or the ability to learn these skills, in order to access information and enter clinical data.
