RN - Cardiac Cath Lab Staff Nurse

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Aids the physician in all aspects of cardiac invasive and non-invasive testing, diagnostic laboratory tests, and procedures.
• Fulfills educational responsibilities for patients and their families.
• Participates in research projects.
• Maintains cardiac cath lab and other diagnostic equipment.
• Initiates ongoing quality assurance measures.
• Maintains regulatory compliance.

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

• Current State licensure as a Registered Nurse.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Associate's in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing with relevant experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Pediatric experience preferred.
• Knowledge and skill in invasive procedures protocols, equipment, and instrumentation specific to cardiac invasive procedures.
• Interpersonal skills necessary for effective communication with physicians, nursing personnel, and other clinicians.
• CPR training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
• PALS and ACLS certifications required and/or must be obtained within 12 months of hire.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as excessive noise, dust, or extreme temperatures.
• Moderate exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities.
