Cardiac Cath Lab Nurse
About the Role
As a Cardiac Cath Lab Nurse, you will be responsible and accountable for the delivery of individualized nursing care to adult patients undergoing cardiac catheterization procedures, as well as specialized radiology procedures. This includes both the preparation and recovery of these patients. You will also provide care for patients undergoing specialized cardiac tests, including adult and pediatric patients.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
- Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records of patients' medical information and vital signs.
- Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
- Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
- Perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act.
- Utilize therapeutic communication in daily practice and maintain a safe therapeutic environment.
- Identify nursing problems related to individual patient needs and plan individualized care using an interdisciplinary approach.
- Participate in performance improvement activities and coordinate care that aligns with the hospital’s mission and vision.
- When acting in a charge nurse role, make staff assignments based on patient need, acuity, and staff skill, serve as a role model and clinical resource, and respond to requests for information or follow-up.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
- Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Additional coursework in physiology, hemodynamic monitoring, and EKG interpretation.
- At least 1 year of critical care experience in ICU or ER.
