About the role
The Behavioral Health Adult inpatient unit and Geriatric Unit at St. Vincent Hospital provide specialized psychiatric care for adults and seniors, respectively, with acute mental health issues and comorbid conditions. Responsibilities
- Assess human responses and plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients.
- Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff capabilities.
- Maintain a safe environment and intervene appropriately when necessary.
- Provide feedback to peers and participate in interdisciplinary teams.
- Evaluate and document patient outcomes and address concerns.
- Supervise and evaluate LPN scope of practice as needed.
- Use the nursing process to develop patient care plans.
- Ensure appropriate order sets are used and promote patient safety initiatives.
- Participate in department-specific quality initiatives and patient satisfaction programs.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families, resolving concerns as needed.
- Manage time effectively to meet assigned duties and responsibilities within work shifts.
Qualifications
- Minimum Act 34, Act 33, and Act 73 criminal background clearances.
- CPR certification.
- Current PA RN license or multi-state license through the eNLC.
- Preferred certification in a relevant specialty.
Skills
Effective communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are essential. Proficiency in the nursing process and ability to adapt to various patient needs are also required.
