About the role
The Assistant Nurse Manager - Hillcrest ICU is responsible for ensuring optimal patient outcomes through effective leadership and/or provision of patient care delivery in assigned nursing unit(s) or area(s). They promote a shared voice in nursing practice and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
Responsibilities
- Ensures quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of patient care.
- Serves as a resource to staff, physicians, students, and others.
- Supervises staff involved in providing clinical patient care.
- Affirms the quality of patient care delivery in a specific patient care area and serves as a role model for professional nursing practice.
- Aids in the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources.
- Might assume full responsibility for the unit in delegated areas and in the absence of the manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing.
- Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the state of California.
- Current ART certification or BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to obtain ART within six (6) months of hire date.
- Three (3+) or more years of acute care inpatient ICU experience.
- Two (2+) or more years of Charge Nurse or other formal nursing leadership experience.
- Demonstrated skills to effectively supervise clinicians and manage complex workflow and multiple priorities.
- In-depth knowledge of patient care clinical standards and care delivery, systems, external regulations, and internal policies.
- Knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources matters and employee performance.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, to convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner.
- Knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in nursing units or departments.
- Demonstrated hospital management skills, with progressive expertise in patient care services.
- Knowledge to manage disaster incidents, and sentinel events and ability to problem solve with critical thinking skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing.
- Will consider candidates who are currently enrolled in BSN or higher nursing degree program.
- Current ART certification or BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to obtain ART within six (6) months of hire date.
- Three (3+) or more years of acute care inpatient ICU experience.
- Two (2+) or more years of Charge Nurse or other formal nursing leadership experience.

Pay
$132,600 - $259,800 annually, prorated based on appointment percentage. Hourly equivalent: $63.51 - $124.43.
Schedule
Nights, 8-hour shifts.
