About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration and supervision of personnel in assigned areas (Operating Room, Endoscopy/GI Lab, or Point of Care/POH/PACU). This position reports to the Director, ASC and is accountable for coordinating all nursing care given and related supporting services.
Responsibilities
- Oversees delivery of services in assigned area and collaborates with all members of the department health care team to manage patient care
- Ensures quality and safety of care and smooth patient flow within department
- Collaborates with leadership and other business functions in enhancing clinical care models and operational flow
- Maintains materials, adequate supplies and equipment in assigned area
- Maintains an environment of "survey readiness" in assigned area
- Provides regular performance feedback and conducts performance appraisals
- Marks staffing needs and ensures efficient utilization of staff
- Participates in patient experience initiatives
- Oversees and evaluates orientation program of personnel
- Communicates educational needs of personnel to Director, ASC and ASC Educator
- Plans and participates in departmental staff meetings
- Develops clinical policy and procedures, and trains to them, in conjunction with ASC Educator
- Communicates, monitors and enforces compliance with policy and procedures in accordance with Standard Occupational Classification (SOC)
- Works with ASC Director on any non-compliance issues
- Maintains current knowledge of technological development in instrumentation and equipment
- Mechanizes regularly with leadership
- Aids in budget preparation and resolving variances
Qualifications
- Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Current RN License in State of Washington
- Current AHA-BLS and ACLS certification
- 2+ years of nursing experience in specific assigned area (OR, Endoscopy/GI Lab or POH PACU)
- 2+ years of leadership experience (lead, supervisor and above) in a clinical setting or demonstrated equivalent experience
- Knowledge of ADA, Fitness for Duty, FMLA policy, HIV counseling procedures & blood borne pathogen protocols, WISHA/OSHA mandated regulations, Personal protective equipment, Hazards materials, and Infection control procedures
- Knowledge and ability to teach and apply current theories, techniques and practice
- Demonstrated advanced level of achievement of performance standards according to AORN or ASPAN standards of practice
- Knowledgeable in applying & modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide on-going patient care
- Ability to carry out skills as outlined in nursing procedures for clinical areas worked including administration of prescribed medications & treatments in accordance with nursing standards and clinic policy
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification
- CGRN (Certified Gastroenterology Registered Nurse) certification
- ASPAN Certification
- Demonstrated advanced level of achievement of performance standards according to AORN or ASPAN standards of practice
- Demonstrated proficiency in using Word, Outlook and limited expertise in Excel
- Demonstrated ability to perform self-evaluation, taking responsibility for own professional growth and development
- Demonstrated accountability/responsibility for own actions and decisions
- Demonstrated ability to function effectively in emergency situations
- Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbal & written) and maintain good relationships with medical staff, management, customers, & other departments
