RN, Ambulatory Services - Radiation Oncology

Location: Menomonee Falls, WI (Froedtert Men Falls Hospital) – on-site role

About the role

The Staff RN - Ambulatory Services works collaboratively as an active member of the interprofessional team to provide therapeutic patient and family centered care. This role systematically and continuously collects and assesses data related to patient health status to develop, execute, and evaluate the plan of care. The Staff RN uses evidence to drive clinical decisions and practice related to individual and population health, establishes goals and strategies for meeting care coordination needs across settings with the patient, family, and/or other care providers, and considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, and fiscal accountability in planning and delivering care. The Staff RN delegates and supervises care in accordance with the WI Nurse Practice Act and participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives while assuming responsibility for professional development.

This position requires previous inpatient experience, preferably within the ED, and will float between Froedtert Hospital, Froedtert Menomonee Falls, and Froedtert West Bend Hospitals.

Responsibilities

• Perform/direct ACLS
• Independent rhythm interpretation and defibrillation
• Administration of advanced lifesaving medications
• Independent, templated (“RN-only”) visits for patient assessment, with action taken based on established protocols and/or clinical practice standards using clinical judgment
• Specialty patient education where certification/additional certificate is required (e.g., sedation, telemetry monitoring, and rhythm interpretation/management)
• Assisting with complex procedures (e.g., advanced wound therapy such as VACs and debridement, central line management including TPA administration, device interrogation, and interpretation with resultant action)
• Complex infusions (e.g., concurrent infusions, hazardous medication administration, blood and blood products)
• Patient care coordination, direct patient care, patient education, telephone triage/eVisits, and performing/assisting with minor procedures
• May float to other areas as needed for operational needs

Requirements

• Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact)
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or equivalent within 90 days of hire
• Clinical experience and/or interest in the care and management of patient populations specific to the area of employment
• At least 1 year of relevant nursing experience preferred
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred

Specialty-Specific Requirements

• Oncology: RNs must have or attain an oncology nursing certification or complete 10 hours of oncology-focused continuing education per year
