RN - 3N Cardiology (Full Time, Nights), St.Vincent

3 North Cardiology Unit is a 21-bed cardiac floor that serves as a stepdown from CNICU, caring for post-op day 2-3 open hearts, heart catheterizations, and other cardiac procedures. The unit emphasizes surgical cardiac care (post-open heart, vascular) but also manages medical cardiac and procedural cardiac patients, including heart catheterizations, pacemaker placements, and post-Watchman procedures.

About the role

The Registered Nurse assesses human responses and plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for individuals or families. The RN is fully responsible for all actions as a licensed nurse and is accountable to patients for the quality of care delivered.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership in a professional practice setting and acts as a team player by helping others succeed through role modeling and mentoring.
• Assigns or delegates tasks based on patient needs and the skill level of RNs, LPNs, or support staff, including assigning duties and lunches when performing charge role.

• Derives culturally and age-appropriate expected outcomes involving the patient, family, and other healthcare providers.
• Analyzes health status data to determine patient care needs, comparing data with norms when possible.
• Assesses patient reports/records for changes in condition, notifies physicians and/or supervisors, intervenes appropriately, and documents accordingly.
• Accepts assignments in areas other than the primary unit and performs duties within individualized competency.

Requirements

• Current State of PA RN licensure or current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
• Certification in area of specialty (preferred).
• CPR certification.
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
