About the role

The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for identifying patient alterations in health, assessing patients' responses to health issues, implementing nursing interventions, and evaluating outcomes to improve patient health. The RN supervises LPNs and UAPs, assigns tasks to other healthcare professionals, and coordinates care across various disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess patient alterations in health
• Implement nursing interventions based on theoretical concepts
• Evaluate patient outcomes to achieve optimal health
• Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team
• Coordinate care among other healthcare professionals
• Participate in unit-based activities to foster a positive work environment
• Provide and coordinate care to achieve the organization's mission of excellent patient care

Requirements

• Graduation from an approved nursing program
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Professional nursing board certification in specialty area preferred
• Specialty certification required within two years of specialty experience at Shands or certification eligibility date for all nurses hired after June 30, 2011
• BSN required within three years of hire for all nurses hired after April 30, 2014
• Motor vehicle operator designation: Not applicable
