About the role
The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for identifying patient alterations in health, assessing health responses, implementing nursing interventions, evaluating outcomes, and coordinating care with other healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities
- Identify and assess patient alterations in health.
- Implement nursing interventions based on theoretical concepts.
- Evaluate patient outcomes to achieve optimal health.
- Supervise and direct care provided by LPNs and UAPs.
- Assign and delegate care to other qualified members of the health care team.
- Coordinate care between other professional disciplines.
- Contribute to a positive work and professional environment.
- Provide and coordinate care to achieve the organization's mission of excellent patient care.
- Apply specialized knowledge and clinical skills related to the impact of disability on individuals and their significant others.
- Assess functional and health patterns.
- Formulate nursing diagnoses.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive rehabilitation care.
- Follow Standards of Rehabilitation Nursing Practice.
Requirements
- Graduation from an approved nursing program.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Professional nursing board certification in specialty area preferred.
- Specialty certification required within two years of specialty experience at Shands or certification eligibility date for all nurses hired after June 30, 2011.
- BSN required within three years of hire for all nurses hired after April 30, 2014.
- Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose.
Qualifications
- Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Florida.
