About the role
NCH The Observation Department is a 18 bed, 6 bay unit at our Downtown Baker campus. It focuses on short-term patient stays, ranging from 24 hours or less, with a diverse population including diagnoses such as chest pain, TIA, ESRD, CHF, and syncope. This unit also handles post-operative care for urological robotic surgeries.
Responsibilities
- Develops a plan that includes strategies to achieve expected outcomes.
- Implements the plan of care interventions and medical plan of care as appropriate.
- Captures care delivery.
- Employs patient teaching to promote health and safety.
- Evaluates progress toward outcomes.
- Promotes ethical practices.
- Achieves knowledge and competence that reflects current nursing practice.
- Integrates evidence and research findings into practice.
- Contributes to quality nursing practice and shared decision making (SDM).
- Communicates effectively in all areas of practice.
- Demonstrates leadership in the professional practice setting.
- Collaborates with patient, family, the inter-professional team, and others in the conduct of nursing practice.
- Utilizes appropriate resources to plan and provide nursing services that are safe, effective, and financially responsible.
- Practices in an environmentally safe and healthy manner.
- Accountable to foster, participate, and be knowledgeable with the shared decision-making model of the NCH Healthcare System.
Requirements
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
Qualifications
- Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
