About the role

Banner Engineering is seeking an RMA Electronics Technician to diagnose and repair sensors returned on RMAs, update firmware and hardware on sensors, perform routine servicing and inspection, help maintain and organize equipment, and provide direction to materials handlers in the RMA area. This position reports to the Quality Control Inspection Manager and is classified as Non-Exempt according to the FLSA.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect finished goods returned on new product RMAs and upgrade hardware/firmware to prepare items for return to stock.
  • Diagnose and repair complex electronic problems for sensors returned on RMAs.
  • Use electronic schematics and Engineering resources to discover the root cause of failures in electronic circuits.
  • Utilize multimeters, oscilloscopes, and function generators to document problems on returned sensors.
  • Use multiple software programs to analyze sensor operation and repair.
  • Perform special functional tests to ensure returned products meet specifications.
  • Provide recommendations on warranty coverage based on analysis results.
  • Communicate with the Customer Service Team to gather complete information on why a sensor was returned to ensure accurate repairs.
  • Write Failure Analysis Reports for the Engineering Teams.
  • Assist the RMA coordinator with checking in new RMAs, issuing credit, and shipping items back to customers.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Electronics or an Engineering-related field.
  • Significant technical experience in a quality role involving failure analysis.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics to determine the function of an electronic circuit.
  • Good knowledge of basic electronic components (diodes, transistors, FETs, resistors, capacitors, inductors, transformers, and ICs).
  • Proficiency in operating electronic testing devices (multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, and power supplies).
  • Ability to work under pressure for throughput while maintaining quality standards.
  • General proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Work Environment

The role operates in a corporate office environment that is indoor and climate-controlled.

Physical Demands

  • Sit for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Exposure to a computer screen for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Use of a computer mouse, keyboard, computer, and other standard office equipment.
  • Frequent talking or hearing.

Pay

Base Pay Range: $22.21 - $30.54 per hour.
