Job Summary

Mohave County Human Resources Risk Management Division is seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented Risk Analyst to support the County's Risk Management operations with a primary focus on Certificate of Insurance (COI) review, insurance compliance, risk assessment, interdepartmental coordination, and process improvement initiatives. This position plays a critical role in protecting County interests by ensuring vendors, contractors, lessees, and special event organizers maintain required insurance coverage and comply with contractual insurance requirements.

Salary Range

Range 18/Steps 1-4 ($26.93-$29.43)

Work Hours

Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Key responsibilities and expectations

  • Review and evaluate Certificates of Insurance (COIs) for compliance with County insurance requirements, contractual obligations, and risk management standards.
  • Serve as a liaison between Risk Management and County departments to ensure consistent application of insurance and risk management requirements.
  • Collaborate with departments such as Procurement, Public Works, Development Services, Facilities, Parks, Airport, Public Health, Finance, Legal, and other operational divisions on risk-related matters.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, event organizers, insurance brokers, and carriers to resolve insurance compliance issues and obtain required documentation.
  • Conduct risk assessments related to County operations, contracts, projects, leases, and special events.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of risk management procedures, workflows, and compliance processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, standardize practices, and enhance service delivery through process improvement initiatives.
  • Travel throughout Mohave County as needed to attend meetings, conduct site visits, and support departmental operations.
  • Perform pre-event, pre-project, and pre-construction reviews to identify potential risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Visit County facilities, construction sites, leased properties, and event locations to evaluate operational and safety exposures when necessary.
  • Prepare reports, recommendations, and documentation related to insurance compliance, risk assessments, and operational improvements.
  • Build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders while providing responsive and professional customer service.
  • Support a team-oriented environment by collaborating on special projects and contributing to the County's overall risk management objectives.

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepares notice of meetings, agendas and minutes for various committees and boards.
  • Reviews and evaluates program performance and develops methods and procedures for program improvement.
  • Answers routine correspondence and develops and prepares required forms, reports, newsletter articles, or other documentation as requested.
  • As required, performs a variety of clerical tasks including but not limited to scheduling appointments, answering phones, responding to or routing inquiries, and referring and directing employees/clients to appropriate agencies.
  • Performs special assignments as requested.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including functioning as a proactive team player and contributor.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Maintains records.
  • Prioritizes and practices personal job safety and monitors, evaluates, and proactively enhances safety practices of coworkers.
  • Effectively manages problems which may be controversial or sensitive in nature.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an Accredited University
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the coordination and maintenance of industrial, vehicular safety, and loss prevention programs, including injury and accident investigation and analysis, driver safety education and training, work and facility hazard analysis, and OSHA compliance and reporting.
  • Two (2) years of experience in teaching or training in a school or work environment.
  • Familiarity with the basic concepts and procedures of at least one of the following: risk management, business insurance coverage, indemnification and liability, workplace safety, regulatory safety compliance, or facility security.
