Position Summary

The Foreman is primarily responsible for supervising rigging services for on-site and mobile customers where field work or construction knowledge is required. The Foreman will supervise crews directly, ensuring timeliness and quality of work, in compliance with safety standards and customer specifications as required per job.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Supervise various phases of rigging and crating tasks, and tailor supervisory activities to meet job specifications.
  • Ensure all customer and MEI requirements are being followed.
  • Able to work under pressure and remain professional while coordinating numerous activities.
  • Assist with hands-on or in-the-moment training for new and existing staff.
  • Able to promote and support teamwork and cooperation within and between the crews.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and review work performances at various stages and on job completions.
  • Maintain tools, gauges, and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner and instruct others in the proper use and care of tools and equipment.
  • Represent MEI professionally, courteously, and confidently with an orientation towards customer service and solutions.
  • Address minor employee concerns, scheduling conflicts, or manpower issues.
  • Offer job-related guidance to field personnel and clarify instruction when necessary.
  • Able to communicate job scope, big picture details, and envision successful outcomes.
  • Provide information or generate reports regarding differing jobs or projects, per management needs.
  • Complies with company policies and procedures giving special attention to safety regulations and encourages this with others.
  • Travel to various job sites frequently and oversee work and assigned personnel as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as necessary or requested.

Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, And Education)

  • HS Diploma or GED Equivalent; 3 years of experience as rigging foreman and/or general foreman.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, or schematics as needed.
  • Knowledge of the content and structure of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words; must be able to keep accurate and legible logs and records or convey information, in English.
  • Bilingual in English / Spanish helpful but not required.
  • Ability to use mathematical concepts including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in various units of measurement - using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry helpful.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Basic computer knowledge using a Windows based system.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and/ or company-specific software, or the ability to learn.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable.

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently climb ladders or stairs, stand; walk; sit; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; use fingers and hands to adjust straps, move equipment and perform daily duties; reach with hands and arms; pull handles and grasp equipment; talk and hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The General Foreman is subject to possible exposure to extreme year-round outdoor environmental conditions and may also be subject to working weekends and holidays.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; may be exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration, and high levels of noise.
