Responsibilities
- Ensure that all initial safety and hazard assessments (JHA's, pre-task plans and equipment inspections) required by the company and our customers are completed before work begins.
- Communicate effectively with project team members if there’s a scope of work change or safety concerns to execute the project.
- Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in all rigging and lifting activities, to ensure compliance with safety procedures and method statements.
- Move loads and equipment according to rigging plan with appropriate rigging equipment.
- Direct and control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings.
- Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads, to ensure safety of workers and materials.
- Aid with coordination of materials, labor, and equipment.
Requirements
- Identify equipment needed including types of cranes, forklifts, gantries, and determine load capacity from equipment load chart.
- Calculate additions and deductions involved in lifting operations.
- Consult if lift plan isn’t adequate due to job/machine layout and identify alternative lift plan options.
- Rigger 2 certified & qualified.
- Lock-out tag-out.
- Valid Chauffeurs license.
- Ability to work effectively with all personality types.
- Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
- Self-directed and can work independently.
Preferred Requirements
- Stick (Arc) welding.
- CDL-A License/ DOT Med card.
- Equipment/tool experience.
- Aerial – Lift Operation – Boom Lift.
- Forklift Operation – Material handling up to 140,000#.
- Forklift Operation – Material handling more to 140,000#.
- Telehandler Overhead crane certified & qualified (NCCER/NCCCO).
- Mobile crane certified & qualified (NCCER/NCCCO).
- Gantry Mobile gantry.
- Optical & digital layout equipment (Preferred).
- Trailer loading and securing of material.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and/or operate scissor/boom lifts while working at height.
- Work in permit & non-permit required confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
- Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds regularly/occasionally.
- Must be able to respond quickly to auditory alarms, visual signals, or other effective means to communicate hazards.
- Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
- Must be able to work in cold/hot environments.
- Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
