About the role

The primary purpose of the Moulder Operator (Trainee) is to learn all aspects of the moulders, including safety, quality, and production, and effectively execute customer specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Always wear proper eye and ear protection.
  • Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Ensure all employees in your area follow established safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow posted standard work instructions.
  • Properly execute all aspects of the work order process, including in-feeds and out-feeds of material.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of the moulder, RF gluer, and basic functions of each machine in the area.
  • Set up and adjust the DET.
  • Operate the moulder to create parts within spec as instructed per run schedule.
  • Perform complete changeovers on RF gluer, moulder, and DET.
  • Adjust the moulder when material does not meet required specifications.
  • Set up and produce wide profile jambs when needed.
  • Adhere to cutter head change-out/Hydro-lock pump-up schedule.
  • Understand specs of wide jambs.
  • Understand and interpret all metrics displayed on the production tracker.
  • Operate the scanner for the production tracker with minimal missed scans.
  • Maintain accurate notes on daily production, including issues in the cell and uncaptured details.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of quality standards required to produce a good product.
  • Complete and submit Quality Control documents (specification check sheets).
  • Troubleshoot small problems within the cell.
  • Coordinate with maintenance to identify and fix problems within the cell.
  • Resolve minor inventory issues by contacting inventory personnel.
  • Train crew members in every position within the cell.
  • Delegate tasks to crew members to maintain productivity during downtime.
  • Explain the process from beginning to end.
  • Ensure all scrap is accounted for and reported properly.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and at least 18 years old.
  • Good attendance record.
  • Elevated level of math skills (converting fractions to decimals, adding, subtracting, multiplying decimals and fractions).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Able to read a tape measure and calipers.
  • Able to read, write, and interpret documents like specifications.
  • Basic computer skills, including sending/receiving emails and typing.
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for 10 hours straight.
  • Ability to climb and descend stairs as needed.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements (hand, wrist, and arm).
  • Ability to walk, bend, twist, and stoop.
  • Ability to withstand heat in excess of 95 degrees and potentially uncomfortable noise levels.
  • Ability to work in environments with wood dust and aluminum exposure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Initiative to be a self-starter and train/coach others.

Pay

The hourly pay rate for this position is $20.60.

Schedule

  • 3:00 PM – 1:30 AM, Monday-Thursday; overtime as needed.
  • Training on 1st shift: 4:45 AM - 3:15 PM, Monday-Thursday; overtime as needed.
