Position Summary

This supervisor position will lead, mentor, and direct the Tax Technology Advancement Lab, a team of auditors and an IS Business Analyst who will develop processes for enhancing auditing using new technology tools. This position will supervise staff whose responsibility it is to partner with technology systems, business systems, and both internal and external stakeholder experts. The work will include the development of business requirements, understanding of auditing practices and procedures, and formulation of reports and analysis of technology and corresponding policy/procedure recommendations. Auditors working in this unit must utilize their knowledge of audit processes to ensure new technologies meet the needs of DOR and must complete their work using new processes or technologies. As such, this supervisor must be forward-thinking in technology, and skilled in overseeing and guiding audit work, including resolving complex or disputed audit issues and actively participating in and engaging unit staff in other activities toward organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • Minimally qualified applicants will have all the following:
    • A bachelor's or advanced degree in accounting or taxation from an accredited institution or a combination of coursework and work experience
    • Experience auditing taxes within a state tax organization
    • Experience identifying or implementing new technologies or process improvements
  • In addition to the minimum qualifications, well qualified applicants will have:
    • Management/Supervision experience in a state tax organization
    • Experience auditing Wisconsin sales/use taxes
    • Experience evaluating the effectiveness of new technologies or process improvements that enhance existing workflows or practices
    • Experience implementing technology or process changes that impact more than 100 users
    • Communication* and change management* skills
