Responsibilities
- Provide billing support to Patient Financial Services, including payment posting to support revenue cycle operations.
- Identify denials for follow-up and perform account follow-up activities.
- Update information on accounts and organize, prioritize, and perform work in a timely manner within established guidelines.
- Participate in department meetings and provide feedback to management on process improvements.
- Adhere to verbal and written instructions to achieve desired results and maintain documentation standards.
- Correctly enter data in fields with acceptable levels of speed and accuracy.
- Monitor assigned work queues and workload, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of accounts.
- Take initiative on issues or problems by escalating them to a supervisor.
- Process incoming correspondence based on reason codes in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure account information is complete and accurate, adhering to payment timeline protocols.
- Assist team members with account resolution as needed.
- Demonstrate detailed knowledge of Cedars-Sinai’s core patient accounting systems and use them effectively.
- May be cross-trained in other office functions and provide back-up coverage.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or college diploma preferred.
- A minimum of 1 year of hospital or professional billing and/or collections experience is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of hospital billing or collections experience is preferred.
- Experience in cash management, payment posting, and interpreting/explaining EOBs is a plus.
