Addison Group is partnering with a respected healthcare organization in the Austin area to fill a Revenue Cycle Specialist role focused on hospice billing and collections. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with a mission-driven team committed to compassionate care and excellence in revenue cycle operations.

About the role

This position manages hospice billing and insurance collections with a strong emphasis on Medicare Part A. The specialist oversees claims throughout the revenue cycle, resolves outstanding accounts, researches denials, submits appeals, and ensures timely reimbursement. The role also supports payment posting, month-end reporting, and ongoing billing department operations.

Responsibilities

  • Process hospice insurance claims with a primary focus on Medicare Part A reimbursement
  • Monitor and resolve outstanding accounts receivable through timely insurance follow-up
  • Investigate claim denials, payment variances, and billing issues to drive resolution
  • Prepare and submit appeals with appropriate supporting documentation
  • Perform payment posting activities as needed
  • Assist with month-end revenue cycle reporting and reconciliation
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to obtain required billing documentation
  • Ensure billing activities remain compliant with payer guidelines and regulatory requirements
  • Provide support to the billing team and contribute to process improvements

Requirements

  • 2+ years of full-cycle medical billing and collections experience
  • Recent experience billing Medicare Part A claims is required
  • Hospice billing experience strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with Medicaid and commercial insurance billing is a plus
  • Ability to interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and resolve payment discrepancies
  • Experience with accounts receivable follow-up and denial management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EMR/billing systems
  • Experience using NextGen or similar healthcare billing software is preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment

Pay

$24 - $30 per hour depending on experience

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, primarily onsite with the opportunity to work remotely one day per week after training completion.
