We are looking for an experienced Revenue Cycle Director to guide the financial operations that support accurate reimbursement and strong cash performance for healthcare services in San Francisco, California. This Long-term Contract position will oversee the full revenue cycle, strengthen billing and collection practices across multiple payer types, and partner with clinical, admissions, and finance teams to improve operational results. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in healthcare reimbursement, a hands-on leadership style, and the ability to turn performance data into meaningful process improvements. Responsibilities: • Direct daily revenue cycle activities from front-end intake through payment posting, ensuring smooth coordination across registration, coverage validation, claims processing, follow-up, and collections. • Establish and refine billing workflows, internal controls, and operating standards to promote accurate and timely reimbursement from government, managed care, and private payer sources. • Lead denial prevention, account resolution, and appeal efforts by identifying root causes and driving corrective action to protect reimbursement. • Track and interpret revenue cycle metrics such as accounts receivable days, aging trends, denial frequency, and net collection performance, then present actionable insights to leadership. • Identify inefficiencies in current processes and implement operational improvements that increase accuracy, reduce delays, and strengthen financial outcomes. • Manage, coach, and develop billing, coding, and revenue cycle team members while setting clear expectations for quality, productivity, and accountability. • Partner with finance, clinical operations, admissions, and external billing resources to ensure documentation supports clean claims and timely submission of billing data. • Maintain compliance with applicable billing regulations and reimbursement guidelines, and coordinate audit preparation, internal reviews, and follow-up actions as needed. • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Accounting, or a related discipline. • At least 7 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations, including 3 or more years in a leadership capacity. • Strong working knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal, managed care, and private payer billing practices, particularly within long-term care and rehabilitation environments. • Demonstrated experience with healthcare billing platforms and electronic health record systems. • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage complex workflows, and improve financial performance through process discipline. • Solid understanding of medical billing, healthcare revenue cycle processes, and payer reimbursement requirements. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with executives, operational teams, and external partners. • Master’s degree, revenue cycle certification, or experience in nonprofit or senior care settings is preferred.
