About the Role

The Revenue and Reservations Manager will play an important role in the day-to-day operations of Thompson and tommie Austin. This position is responsible for providing best-in-class service for both group and transient guests while ensuring maximum occupancy and revenue performance. Responsibilities include implementing revenue management systems and standards, controlling room inventories and rates, and maximizing the hotel’s overall revenues and profitability.

This role manages daily reservation processes and operations, including room inventory and availability, group rooming lists and blocks, cut-off dates and restrictions, selling guest rooms, and reservation policies and procedures. The Revenue and Reservations Manager serves as the central contact to ensure optimal performance across all reservation channels, supervises the Reservation Coordinator, and collaborates with the Front Office and Sales teams to support top-line revenue performance and customer satisfaction goals.

The role oversees the hotel reservations process to maintain optimum levels of production and occupancy. Additional responsibilities include managing the group sales and reservations process, monitoring lost business reports, implementing strategies for Internet distribution channels, handling VIP reservations, and training reservations personnel. This position participates in strategic hotel marketing plans by monitoring future room occupancy and revenues, running reports, and conducting analysis.

The Revenue and Reservations Manager reports directly to the Area Director of Revenue and works with the revenue team to outperform competitors through rational and competitive pricing, targeted distribution strategies, and careful inventory management to maximize revenue and yield high net profits.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises Group Reservations and Billing Coordinator.
  • Ensures the reservation process is seamless for guests and internal teams.
  • Monitors daily pickup and flags reservations appropriately for accuracy.
  • Works closely with revenue teams to flag high-compression dates and monitor inventory for optimal occupancy.
  • Manages group rooming lists and cutoff dates, tracking inventory changes and pickup for group blocks.
  • Ensures blocks are properly routed and billing is audited for accuracy.
  • Conducts weekly pickup meetings for group reservations.
  • Answers calls and guest emails in a timely and friendly manner.
  • Serves as the property expert on packages, promotions, partnerships, and volume accounts, ensuring all sellers have accurate information.
  • Coordinates with Guest Services on VIP, package, and Luxury Consortia bookings for a seamless experience.
  • Acts as the point of contact for guest recovery and questions during the reservation process.
  • Monitors conversion for Central Reservations (CRO) and direct channels, managing quality via guest scores to ensure best-in-class service.
  • Maintains effective communication across all departments.
  • Assists with OTA inquiries, requests, and disputes.
  • Prepares weekly and monthly reservation reports.
  • Provides analysis to guide the hotel revenue management team in formulating transient and group inventory restrictions and pricing strategies to increase market share and maximize revenues.
  • Assists with the implementation of the hotel sales strategy and pricing recommendations across all channels and market segments.
  • Analyzes results of deployed strategies and tactics on a monthly basis.
  • Provides communication to the hotel’s strategy team.
  • Analyzes the four major OTA channels to ensure maximum revenue and marketing exposure.
  • Analyzes recent trends for all revenue streams and provides detailed analysis to support revenue forecasting.
  • Attends weekly hotel Sales Strategy meetings and provides required analysis.
  • Reviews bookings that fall outside established guidelines and provides feedback to the Director of Revenue Management, Revenue Manager, and/or Director of Sales.
  • Assists with managing and maintaining Hyatt revenue management systems, including Reserve, Opera, Envision, and Passkey.
  • Provides analysis for the front office team to maximize revenue from up-sell programs and sell-out management effectiveness.
  • Collaborates with the Convention Services Team/Space Manager to ensure proper utilization of meeting space to maximize room and food and beverage revenue potential.

Thompson Austin offers 212 luxury guestrooms and suites plus 17 residences, a 10,000-square-foot wellness center, three restaurant and bar concepts by Land & Sea Department (open to the public), an expansive pool deck with private cabanas, and over 10,000 square feet of flexible and traditional event space.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with customers, employees, and third parties.
  • Knowledge of effective hotel pricing concepts, yield management optimization, and selling strategies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, reasoning, motivating, organizational, and training abilities.
  • Two years of supervisory or analyst experience in hotel revenue management or reservations preferred.
