Responsibilities

  • Provides medical management to workers compensation injured employees.
  • Performs case management through telephonic contact with medical providers, employers, claims professionals, and ancillary service providers.
  • Manages medical care to return injured employees to pre-injury status.
  • Reviews services of medical and rehabilitation providers and arranges for appropriate evaluation, treatment, and counseling.
  • Communicates with physicians, injured workers, employers, and other resources involved in the rehabilitation program.
  • Evaluates home care services and equipment; determines need for home modifications and coordinates home care.
  • Communicates with employers to determine job requirements and explore light-duty, modified, or alternate employment.
  • Analyzes treatment results and medical status; reviews incoming provider reports.
  • Identifies suitable employment opportunities consistent with medical limitations, capabilities, aptitudes, and interests.
  • Generates reports to communicate case status, findings, and recommendations.
  • Generates correspondence to referral sources, medical providers, injured workers, and other parties involved in the rehabilitation process.
  • Participates in case conferences and training to enhance medical proficiency.
  • Documents case management observations, assessments, and plans in the system.
  • Maintains a caseload supporting at minimum 145 hours of billable work or an inventory of 72 files monthly with 95% quality compliance expected.

Requirements

  • Degree from an applicable program of training and a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting.
  • Active Registered Nursing license or equivalent within the state of practice or states where case management is performed.

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Worker’s Compensation experience.
  • Certification in a related field.
